YOUTH COLUMN

Mission Possible
By Aileen Rios

Have you ever seen a group of rambunctious youth at Coco Walk handing out pamphlets, on one occasion one of them even carrying an actual-sized wooden cross? These teens are not disturbing the peace, but realizing the Great Commission. They are not members of a fraternity or gang, they are the members of the explosive evangelism squad of CYM: Christian Youth Mission.

The group began in 1992 with Joaquin G. Molina and his then girlfriend, now wife, Yvette. They formed a coalition of six members who sought to share the life changing message of Jesus Christ. Five years later, and a couple hundred members strong, the group has a mission to bring youth in their community to know God through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

Christian Youth Mission goes beyond their Saturday meetings, which include fellowship, worship, personal testimonies, and a Bible study. The group frequents hot spots around Miami to share the gospel with fellow teens. They share God’s message of the gospel with fellow teens. They share god’s message of salvation in Coconut Grove, Town and Country Mall, and Mall of the Americas. Being young themselves, they feel they are the most qualified to tell others how Jesus Christ has radically changed them.

As their pamphlet states, "CYM is committed to lift up the name of Jesus in our daily lives as the One and Only True God." CYM members routinely go public wearing their group shirts and sharing their personal testimonies.

"Our goal at CYM is to build up youth with real testimony of God’s existence and manifest His blessing upon our lives and those that follow His word." Now that’s a mission.

You are gladly invited to join their evangelism efforts or visit their Saturday meeting at Trinity Baptist Church (97th Avenue and S.W. 35th Street in Miami). The starting time is 7:00 p.m. For more information call: (305) 552-0049.
