THE Trumpeter Magazine:
by Maggie Paul

You might have a great idea to begin a brand new ministry. You've got a problem, though, when it comes to carrying out that idea. You also might not even know whether a ministry similar to yours already exists. You obviously need help and don't know where to turn. Well, there is a new resource available to help you: The Trumpeter Magazine. And we can help you help others in the most effective way possible.

The Trumpeter Magazine has been established as "A Ministry for Ministries." We are approved as a 509 (A)(1), non for profit organization. We are here to help ministries in South Florida get the necessary support needed to accomplish the vision God has set before them. We serve as a liaison, bridging the gap between ministries and the secular world. You might have already established a ministry, and now your ministry is in jeopardy -- you have no supplies, equipment or financial support. Well, The Trumpeter Magazine is here to help fulfill your needs. We plan on providing counseling and assistance to ministries, and help answer specific problems. You can strengthen your ministry through education of sound ministerial practices with this resource by attending some of our seminars that we will soon be offering. The Trumpeter Magazine also hopes to locate supplies, equipment and possibly finances through our extensive database.

Why are we doing all of this? Marty Swanko, herself, knows how difficult it is to get a ministry off the ground."When I started The Trumpeter Magazine, I found quite a division within the body of Christ; it seemed as if people were doing their own thing. There were no comprehensive listings of Christian organizations or churches, and it took a long time for me to get the magazine rolling. Publishing a Christian magazine that incorporated all denominations into one publication had never been done before, and I didn't have any other organization backing up my vision. I didn't have anyone to turn to, so I know exactly how difficult starting a ministry can be."

A call to a ministry is one thing. Carrying the idea through can be very time consuming. By attending one of The Trumpeter Magazine counseling sessions or seminars, you can learn in one hour information that can save you almost two years of time.

Do you know how to secure bank loans or government funding for your ministry? Do you know how to manage your finances or where to get software designed specifically for nonprofit organizations? Do you know The Trumpeter Magazine hopes to obtain wholesale prices for many of the basic supplies that ministries need. The Trumpeter community of South Florida can be informed of events or needs within your ministry through The Trumpeter Magazine. Our meetings and fund-raisers are another way to not only learn more about your field of ministry, but to help network and unite the Body of Christ in South Florida.

The Trumpeter Magazine hopes to help you put all your concerns aside so you can focus on your vision. And our vision + is to be here for you. We aim to serve as a clearinghouse of information to the Christian community. Swanko says, "When God sees a need, He fills it. The Trumpeter Magazine is fulfilling a need that perhaps no one else can. We know this because The Trumpeter Magazine is now fulfilling a need that no other magazine can. And, with our close associations with the local Christian networks and businesses. I know The Trumpeter Magazine hopes to 'bridge communities of resource with communities of need.'"

"Bridge Builder" Bud Ipema answered a call similar to Swanko's in Chicago. (Bud's work in trying to "bridge" the gap between the secular and Christian worlds has earned him the accolade preceding his name.) He is the president of MidAmerica Leadership Magazine, established in 1986, which "assists organizations and individuals in Chicago to become more effective in their urban and metropolitan ministries; the Magazine specifically helps those who have vision and commitment, but lack skills and resources or the opportunity to develop or access them. The Trumpeter Magazine provides a unique forum for cross-networking among ministries. You'll come to find, therefore, that you are certainly not alone."

We know that it's not easy keeping your vision afloat. Call The Trumpeter Magazine. We are in the process of developing our board of directors, volunteer staff, and marketing plan for the year. Help us help you -- that's what we're here for. Let's celebrate our visions together, and continue to spread the word of the Gospel all over South Florida. When things get a little tough, don't despair. We're all united in our Christian visions, and together we will make a difference!
